Duramax Dyno Report

Here is a photo of a tractor under construction in Havre Montana. It is powered by a 1710ci cummins engine. It is basicaly 2 855 straight 6s on a V cranckcase to make a V12. Should be between 600 and maybe 900 hp. I would think torque would be sky high. maybe 4 or 5000 ft lbs?

Nice

I guess and hope that you won't need to "BOMB" the thing to satisfy your power requirements  Seriously, I'll hear that thing start over here on the east coast :D Have fun :)

Friend of mine in eastern Montana runs a 900 hp, 16 cylinder Detroit Diesel Big Bud with triples ( 6 tires on each axle). Pulls a 60 foot disc and tells me he has some fields that he only turns around four times in an eight hour day...

I take care of a couple of aux gensets with 1710s in them. EPA is making us use soy diesel to cut the emissions. 5 years ago we had to pull a wall down to get the unit out of the building for overhaul.

Does your friend live in Big Sandy?

CJ, my buddy lives near the bustling megalopolis of Moccasin near Lewiston in the center of the state.

Hmm, Big Sandy's a bit north of there, a few miles south of Havre. I've got a picture of a guy on a calenday I got from Napa who has a Big Bud with a 900HP V-16 Detroit, says it's a one of a kind tractor.

The door of the tractor says, "Williams Brothers, and Big Sandy, MT" Just thought it might be the same guy you know!

CJ I think most of the Big Buds were one of a kind custom jobs. yogibear posted he saw one at a farm show with two 450 hp engines, one for each axle.

Last big buds

According to the web site the last Big Bud was built in 1991. They are now taking in the old ones and doing a refurbush, new engine or overhaul new trans and a updated cab.
