Are any of you running 18" wheels on your 2500 ? if so what size tires are you using ? how is the overall performance?

Sorry Wayne, I don't know the size of the tires but your post reminded me of this Dodge 1/2 ton running around my neighborhood with what looks like 18s or even 20s, like those found on Escalades and Navigators. But the oddest part about this set up is that this 1/2 ton is a 4X4. Yes, I was speechless when I first saw it, definitely unique, but..... yah. I even saw this guy at the beach with his truck, keep in mind the tires on this truck are those low pro less aggressive tread tires. I don't know, I can't see those rims holdin up well on a truck this size, unlike Dual Designs which are designed for the load these look like they're gonna fold on the first curb climb adventure. I do like those 22 1/2 inch big rig tires I'm starting to see more and more of, I think those look cool. OK I'm done. Good luck Wayne!

I just ordered 18" eagle wheel and 33. 5 tires. I do not know who makes them so I will ask tomorrow and get back with you. I checked and found that BFG only makes 31" and 37". The ones I ordered are so new they do not ship for another 30 days. I will post make tomorrow.

I checked into it

Wayne, as far as 18" tires I looked around for metric sizes. The closest size to keep your speedo accurate (if you have 265s) is 285/60/18. Some available 18" are:

Pirelli Scorpio Zero

Bridgstone Dueller HP and Dueller something else

Proxxes from Les Schwab

Falken

Nitto

The main thing to watch out for is WEIGHT rating. Many of the tires listed above rate at only 2750lbs per tire. One of the Falken or Nitto tires are at 3000+ as I recall. You have to look around. While there is not much to choose from, the number of choices is growing each year. As far as wheels, my favorite is the Weld Evo series, particularly the Renegade.

I saw a HD Ford 4x4 with 305/50/20s the other day, that size looked good and beefy and filled the wheelweels nicely. They were not stupid looking low-profile jobs like those ridiculous 22" & 23" pieces on some trucks and SUVs. Those a MEGA $$$$$$$$$. Funny I see punks barely old enough to drive running around in $40K vehicles with $4 worth of wheel and rubber underneath. I must have picked the wrong career or something

Hey thanks for all the replys. Vaughn I know what you mean about the young kids with the fancy rides that kills me. I have to agree with you on the weld EVO they're real nice I like the velocity 8.

Basically I figured if im going to aftermarket wheels , might as well go up in size. I was looking at eagle alloys they had a nice wheel 18 x 9 w/ 5" backspace, and possibly a yokahama avs tire in a 265-60-18 this would keep the stock diameter but be a little wider. Really not sure, just a thought . No problem with the wheels they're rated at 3,450 lbs each.

Any opinions? I dont tow real heavy just an open car trailer.

I just got 18" Nittos

Wayne,

Check out my pictures of my RAM with 18" Nittos and American Eagle Series 178 wheels 18x9. I love the look of the 18" wheels, especially the series 178 chrome. My truck looks so much better now. Amazing what a set of tires does for a truck. I got the biggest size Nitto makes (so far) 325/60R18. They're supposed to come out with some 35" versions later in the year. They're really wide (13") so they stick out about 2-2. 5". With Xenon fender flares they'll be flush again.

Send me a picture when you get yours... .

Wayne, I have seen lots of trucks running around with 22. 5's on them! GAW is doing conversion kits. I looked into the 22. 5's for my 3/4 ton and they DO LOOK COOL!!! but... . the smallest tire is a 41" (I think), so 3. 54's wont work. You'll need a pretty serious lift to fit them BUT you'd have tires that'd last about 300,000 miles!

BCFast,

I found some 36. 8" tires in 22. 5, they are Goodyear G124 255/70R22. 5 with very aggressive tread. I'm also looking into the conversion for the 3/4-ton but the price is $1800, Have you found it for less?

Thanks
