is this too good to be true? this must be one of the models that Goodyear builds exclusively for WM, as i have not seen them anywhere else, or on the Goodyear website. i was shocked that they were "E", as most of the truck tires sold by WM are "C" or "D" at best. they have a #3195 weight rating, and believe it or not, are stamped "made in USA". Goodyear Wrangler Authority A/T.

There is a thread on the Pirate4x4.com site about those tires. They are a WalMart only tire and the gentleman is now having a problem with chunking.

I copied and here is the text of the post over there...

"After they got mounted I started home. Right off the bat I noticed that the truck would wonder all over and i had to work to keep it in my lane. two things popped in my head;

I knew the ball joints were bad. they destroyed the previous tire on the truck.

The minimum wage paid tire changer at Wal-Mart put 30psi in my tire like he does all the Honda's that come in.

Well a quick check with a tire pressure gauge showed that he put 50psi in the front and 60psi in the rear. Just like they needed. So with that knocked out I went ahead and got the 4 ball joints and put them in. After I took the truck for an alignment.

When I picked the truck up that night I was all set to enjoy my new tires. Well that did not happen. The truck still wandered and I discovered that if you swerved at all the truck would dance from side to side to the point that I thought I was taking a ride to the ditch real fast. If you angled the mirror down to look at the rear tire you could see the side walls flexing very badly upon hard turning.

Seeing as how the tires have a max psi rating of 80 I decided I would add some air to them to see if it helped. I brought the fronts and rears up to 75psi. The ride was a little better and the walking around not as bad but it was still there.

Also while airing up the tires I noticed something else. The rear tread was falling apart. The sipping and leading edge on the tires was chunking off and I had LESS than 100 miles on the tires.

Here is the front tire, note the sipping lines in the tread blocks. "

I am looking myself at the Goodyear Duratrac tire... but they are over 200 a piece. A buddy of mine that lives in Cle Elum, WA likes the Prospector AT tire... avail in E range and about 150 each. Says they have a good tread and still handle the snow and ice they have there.

Are you kidding? Shopping at Wal-Mart for your truck parts. You might as well be ******* in your fuel tank to save on fuel. They don't care about quality or people just profit. They proved this by having one of the largest teams of lawyers on staff in the country.

I've never had much luck with Goodyear tires to begin with, let alone Wal-Mart Goodyears. I'd pass on them personally.

Looks like a Goodyear Durotrac. I just bought 2 to try compared to the BFGs I have neen running for a few years. Got them from the local Goodyear store in a 315/70/17 size. So far they are great.

I'd be reluctant to purchase my truck's tires under the same roof that I could also purchase my wife's thongs. :-laf
