I read alot of talk about Rickson wheels. I am interested in some feed back about the "American Force" 19. 5 direct bolt on's. I believe the Rickson's are the front runner, but for a complete package they are very pricey. The American Force wheels now look alot like Rickson's and Alcoa's. But my main question is. Is the quality of the construction their "Cheaper is not always a good thing"

Remember that most wheels are cast or poured from molten metal and later machined. .

The casting process is usually well controlled and machine work is usually controlled by CNC machining centers that are much more accurate and faster than a man on a lathe... .

We have cast (gray iron) in Europe parts for our manufacturing process and we have had made steel 19. 5" wheels in a manufacturing plant in Europe for our own trucks... .

With proper quality control the parts we have made cost us on the average 25-30 cents on the dollar to an american manufacturer... they use the same formula for the gray iron based on ASME testing and CNC manufacturing. . if we could find a gray iron foundry in Asia that could hold the casting standards (formula) we buy it there... .

Most of what goes into these trucks and our cars comes from off shore and our American Unions are preventing us from being competitive and nothing in my belief will ever change that... as long as you can hire a man in a county with 30% unemployment who works a 48 hour week for under $200 a month US... things just can't change... .

So if the quality controls are in place I'd trust the less expensive product...

Just my 2 bits... .

Has anyone used the Vision Hauler Dually 181 wheels? They are like the ones for SRW trucks that you can buy from Rickson and others. Vision Wheels doesn't offer a inter steel wheel they leave you to fin for yourself. I would like to know if their are others that are quality suppliers?

The American Force wheels are cast aluminum which is not as durable as forged aluminum wheels. I believe Rickson's and Alcoa's are both forged.

I am not sure if the American Force wheels come with a wheel rating or not though. I think Rickson's are rated at 5000 pounds.

I hope this helps.

UPDATE:

I was wrong about the American Force wheels being cast. They used to be but now they are forged.
