Anyone know if you can mount 245-19. 5 tires on 6" wide rims? I'm sure they will go on the rim, but will they "cup" or wear funny? Or do you have to go to a 6. 75" wide rim? I have a set of 6" wide rims, but hate the look of 225 tires. I want to run a 245 at least but I'm not sure if they will work

You asked if you can... yes it can and has been done.

Should you, well it would be better to mount them on the 6. 75 wide wheels.

They tend to be pinched on the 6 inch wheels and they look like it. I have not seen poor tire wear on the trucks that have done it.

Tire stores should be able to go to the "book" and answer this question.

If the answer is not in agreement with what you wanna do then it is like JayW says. .

I would be more worried about braking a wheel. But that depends on what loads you haul.

I ran one set of 245s and now have 225s on my truck. I am much happier with the 225 tires b/c of ride and braking. They do not look quite as good as the 245s though.

Personally, the 6 " were made for the 225, the 225 are PLENTY tire for the vast majority of applications or even overkill, and the 225 are less expensive. But I am a real function over bling individual.

I Have 265/70/19. 5 On A 07 Dodge Megacab Longbed Dually. Yes The Frame Was Cut For The Bed. The Tires About 34 Inches Tall I Have About 3/4 Inch Between The Duals No Rubbings On Any Of The Fenders Yet. Tires Reduced The Rpms About 175. Rule of thumb for auto tires is rim width should be 70% to 90% of tire width. convert 245mm to inches or 6" to mm. 6"/9. 64"=62% It would go but it is out of the range.
