Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 190 thermostat

Where can a guy buy a 190 degree thermostat, part number 3946849???

They are as rare as hens teeth here in the bay area.

Any online stores sell them??

Want to change it out this weekend when I do my coolant change.

Talked to Tim yesterday and he said they "hoped" to have them in by the end of the week. I won't have time to run up there to get it later this week so I was hoping I could just order it and get it here before Saturday!

I called Capitol Dodge and they have the 190 degree thermostat, $32. 50... does that sound about right?

Also quoted me $16. 45 a gallon for ATF+4

Capital Dodge gives a good discount for TDR members. Fan cluth listed at 158$ plus tax, out the door for 127$



They also install Banks systems

What's the advantage to using the 190 degree thermostat? I was under the impression the 180 degree thermostat was better?

Less heat rejection to the water jackets. The less heat that is lost to the cooling system, the more heat that is available to make power and drive the turbo. It also helps unburned HC emissions.

Called Cummins NW and spoke with Monty, they had a thermostat in stock and the oil filters I wanted so I placed an order. Got to thinking that the total was a little high, so I called them back and spoke with Lane and asked him what the cost was for the individual items?



$55. 00 for the thermostat

$9. 50 for the filter



I canceled the order!



Went to Capitol Dodge and they sold me the thermostat for $28. 10



55 bucks is almost double the price of the dealership... . give me a break
