I installed a set of high flow (191) delivery valves this weekend :D So far I love the overall perfromance they add to the truck. They are a nice enhancement throughout all RPM's. They sure do not look much different, but there is a ton more smoke in the passenger mirror than before :) so I know they are adding quite a bit more fuel.

I gained a solid 3psi of boost (possibly 4psi) and WOT EGT's are up about 100 degrees. IMO they really compliment the 215 injectors in my 180hp pump.

The delivery valves are a very worthwhile investment IMO even if you are not running big injectors.

I want to put 191s in mine..... but I cant hardly imagine more smoke!... . when I floor it ppl behind me have to get out the jack hammer to get through!!! :D :D but then I could block 4 lanes of traffic insted of two!!!

I have not messed with the AFC since the install. I'm sure I could adjust some of the smoke away, but I don't want to lose too much pre-boost power. That is why I installed the D-Valves to start with.

Jim, When did you install 191 DVs? You must have just done it and now said anything. :) Did you notice any more power? I might have to start being nice to my clutch because today I think it may have slipped a couple times. I might have done something to it on one of my dyno runs with the G-tech since I was being pretty hard on it.

But Cooker, how do know where your're at, if you don't know where you have been? (heavy Indiana hilljack drawl here. )

LOL!

Give it a year, you will be looking for big delivery valves!:D

I need bigger injectors first. Then maybe the laser cut D-Valves. I always like leaving a little room to grow :) At the rate I'm going (read: have no money) I'll never have 300hp ;)

I recently (Friday 5/3/02) installed a set of 191's and set the timing to 16. 5° on Gummel's truck ('96 180hp)..... throttle response increased nicely and it pulled a bit harder. The soot factor was raised quite a bit as well... :D

Matt

Cool... . I considered doing that to my DV's once or twice..... I may end up spending the cash and just getting the 191's or another suitable replacement.....

Matt

I took my set of 181 dv's and dremeled off the retraction piston. I kept the 191's just in case. All I can say about the smoke is OH MY GOD! My truck smokes like Mitchell's pulling trucks. Nonstop. Boost has little effect on it.

Did you just take off the metal ridge below the main sealing surface at the top? I will soon have some . 181s to play with. :D

So all I need is a good ported head, voodoo magic, a good set of twin turbos, a "Company X" model 'top secret' camshaft, more voodoo, timing set to 84° BTDC and some injectors?

Chris, does all thise smoke equate to more power?

Matt

The smoke is unbelievable. I just took my buddy for a ride and he said, he would bet money that my truck smokes more than Dave Mitchell's. :)

And yes, he's seen pulling videos and that pic on Dave's homepage.

Does this equate to more power? No.

My truck today is pulling 46 pounds of boost with an H2E turbo and is less powerful than when it had a stock HX-35 on. I'm going to turn the fuel WAY down, because the smoke is uncontrollable.

I'll soon put the 191's back in and then I'll know more if I lose some spoolup speed or not. This H2E is a lag pig and I should easily be able to tell if something helps or hurts lag.

I don't like the way the pump is set right now, but I wanted to drive it for a few weeks without adjusting anything. The pump shop told me 1050cc's and I wanted to drive it like that before I changed anything in the pump.

It sure takes a lot more than fuel/boost and a big turbo to make power. And smoke definately does NOT equal big power.
