4bt into a 93 Chevy 1/2 ton 2WD

Newer generation 4BT?

all right so my mom totaled her 94 dodge cummins truck and my cousin and i want to take the motor and transmission and swap it in im wondering what all needs to be done. different radiator what about getting the intercooler to fit. any other mods that need to be done? what about boxing the frame good idea/worth it? what. also this is a 1ton truck so how hard would it be to make it a single wheel and slip it in inplace of the 60 thats already there are there width problems and such w/ that or would it be possible to do cheap. any and all help is greatly appreciated so please give me your opinions.

Take your ford radiator out - have the inlet and outlet swapped by a radiator shop, and bolt it back in. The dodge hoses, perhaps with adapters to the inlet sizes, works great.

As for the intercooler, the cheapest i to use the 1994 if it survived. , flip it upside down like Scot did in his conversion shown in here - then pipe it yourself. If it did not survive, get a first-gen intercooler and flip it upside down, it will fit way nicer.

Swapping into a 2 or 4wd? I don't know about the clearance on the crossmember down under the cummins oil pan - these are some deep motors. In a 4wd you have to shave it/drop it. While you have everything out, box the frame (plow pkg sorta deal). Those boxes are available, or just use your own steel.

hey im matts cousin, the one with the 1970 ford crew cab cummins conversion project. i was wondering about the motor mounts, how they are going to fit and hook up on my frame. and i know i will have to beef up the front suspension, but will me stock i-beams hold the weight? my motor and transmission together all assembled weigh about 1000 pounds, give or take. how much more is the cummins and nv4500? any help is appreciated. . (I cant hardly wait for some real power!!) thanks

ok i need some motor mounts to do this and im wondering where is the best place to get them also what would need to be done to fit a dana 80 1ton axel under a 250 srw truck do i only have to remove the spacers or is there anything else that needs doing to make it fit. and how well will the cross ibeams and frame hold an engine thats twice the weight of the original

Talk to these guys about motor mounts:

I built mine by welding the dodge towers from a 1997 to steel plates - I drilled the plates to match the ford frame so I bolted the mounts to the frame (avoided the welding here). I used the factory 1997 mounts that were on the engine to go to the towers I scavanged. Worked nice - but I had the entire donor truck so had all the parts there.

Not sure about the weight. I put a D60 under mine and by all indications it will be fine. By Stock I-beam, I assume you are converting to a 2wd. I have no experience with 2wd and if they will hold the weight. Those had some pretty hefty 390's in them, I expect that the front end will hold - could be wrong though, the cummins is 1100lbs wet.

Kenneth,

This is Casey, using a friends account. If you can find a trailer to tow the truck and motor up to Arnold I am sure we can build some motor mounts and a transmission crossmember. We can probably have it sitting in place and plumbed in a weekend. I will even tow it up there if you want. ;) :-laf

By the way what color is the wrecked truck... and is the tailgate bullet hole free, I might want it.

The truck is white and the tailgate as far as i know is in good shape, no bullet holes. it wouldnt be hard to paint it a gloomy gray though. I dont know if we are still going to do the conversion because i found a dodge that im probably going to buy. But if you still want to do it for the bad-assness of it, then we'll go for it. I still have to figure out

how to get the truck. We have to buy it back from the insurance company. Call me sometime soon about it Casey, Randy knows my number.

P. S. i dont know if your truck could tow a trailer up to Arnold... ... !!
