Need to get bigger tires for my gf's landcruiser and am wondering how big i can go on a stock landcruiser without a lift kit. Also, trying to figure out if i'm going to have to buy a wider wheel or not, since off road tires recommend wider wheels; how do i find out the size of the wheel(not sure if wheels are original). Would like something tall without too much a footprint (narrow)

thanks

Forrest

Tire manufacturers give reccomended wheel width sizes for every tire they build, min and max.

I would be more concerned about what a increase in tire size is doing to the overall gear ratio, in other words a taller tire is going to give you a taller(lower numericaly) final drive ratio. It's going to turn the FJ into a real slow runner off the line. You need to match the increase in tire size with a change of axle rato, (higher numerical gears. )

try http://www.ih8mud.com for lots of FJ info.

It has a chevy 350 under the hood:-laf so I'm not too concerned about having the power to turn more rubber. Thanks for the website with the info!
