Tell me again why I should buy another Cummins?

Ramcharger/Cummins

I want to put a 1993 1-ton dulley, 4x4, Cummins in a 1985 crew cab. I want to take all the under carriage, parts, rear end ect. from the 1993 4-wheel drive and put it into the 1985 2-wheel drive. I want to end up with a 1985 1- ton, 4x4, dulley crew cab with a Cummins engine. Am I getting in over my head? I hope to hear from someone who has done this before.

I know it can be done ,many years ago in Four Wheeler magazine they did one with a Chevy . The thing to do would be to call Dodge to see if the spring hangers for the frame are avalible new yet . If not theres plan B

convert the front axel to coils ,of which should locate in the stock area , then use either Gen 3 Dodge spring buckets and springs or Ford Superduty springs and buckets , then add the trailingarms as needed , you might check the burb / hummer thing on x treme 4x4 on www.poerblocktv.com

Why don't you just swap bodies? That would be EXTREMELY easy compared to swaping everything into the 1985.

Did you read the post ,its a crew cab ?

Is the donor a standard or a club cab ? I know a guy whom built a crew cab useing a club cab ,he had an 84/85 cab and welded on the crew cad stuff ,byspliting the cabs ,if you know a good welding shop you could have the frames cut off and re welded and have anouther crossmember installed and sleave the frame at least a foot on ech side of the welded area

I'd stretch the 93 frame and mount the 85 body on the 4x4 chassis and call it done.

and have a weaker frame? my 85 frame is 1/4" thick insted of 3/16, the chanel is an inch taller and the flange is 1/2 wider. working outside I had the crew cab stripped and put back together in less than 2 months.

D-nut,

What are you going to do with the remains of the truck your not going to use? I am looking for some dually flares for my 82 crew cab.
