Cummins Diesel Tour

Bad news is my father in law was the victim of a hit and run the other night and got his car totalled for him. A friend of a friend has a 1985 Mercedes 190 D sedan for sale. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these cars? I've heard a lot of good about Mercedes diesels, but don't know any particular weak points, etc, he should check out.

Thanks in advance.

I do repair/maintenance on the exact same model, 5 cylinder diesel for a lady friend.

250k with no major repairs. Had quite a bit of trouble with the hydraulic leveling system and climate controls, not expendsive but very time consuming.

Go for it!

Thanks. turns out its only go 63,000 miles on it, and its in very good condition. But I'm a little concerned that that milelage is too low and it hasn't had enough use.

Have you seen any spots that are prone to rust?

-Vic

No rust, the undercoating is very good. No winter salt on our roads here though, just sand.

I did spend over $200 for factory service manuals for it though, puts the Dodge ones to shame. Five NYC yellow page sized books.

Just the climate control book is over 800 pages.

Can't hardly work on it without them.
