bought my 89 in march of this year and immediately changed the oil and filters right after. It was making oil to the point it caught my attention about July and I figured on the lift pump being the culprit as it was the original pump.

I replaced that and changed the oil again and fast forward to now and I'm still making oil. I only drive 10 miles a day Monday thru Friday so its fairly significant as its added about a half qt or so. The truck does haze pretty good as well. I have checked both times behind the oil fill tube around the pump gear and its not clean back in their like I would think it would be if the lip seal was leaking.

The truck has I "guess" has 198k miles as it of course has the 5 digit odo so I cant be certain. It could be 2 or 3 times that.

Considering the haze issue is it possible that a injector or several could cause this?

Been away from this thread with the holidays and all. Getting ready to make my moves on fixing my truck. I'm going with 6 new bosch stock injectors to solve my haze problem that drives me nuts and I need to address my pump problem as well. Should I go with a whole new pump? if so from where? or should I pull mine and just have it rebuilt or is that even worth it? I will be doing all the labor myself.

ETA: also I don't plan on upgrading with hot pump either

Cummins 12 valves can only make oil from two locations. The fuel pump and the injection pump shaft seal.

If you've replaced the fuel pump you know where the next place to look is.

I wouldn't change the pump for a $5.00 seal and a few drops of thread locker.
