1991 d250 dash problems

New to this forum. I just recently picked up my first 1991 d250 12 valve. Speedometer/odometer does not work. Fuel gauge doesn't work. Dash lights don't work. Running lights don't work. Horn doesn't work. any ideas on where to start and what I should be looking for as I start troubleshooting these problems?

Sounds like time to buy a service manual. You are going to want all the wiring diagrams.You can still find the factory service manuals but it make take some searching.You could start by checking fuse links,fuses and ignition switch.Owning an older vehicle the manual will get well used.If your truck has an ammeter that is another weak spot.

For the lights not working, I would check the headlight switch first.

Also check and make sure there is a good ground. If someone was in there and wasn't careful, they either left it unhooked or knocked it loose.

A factory service manual is a must when working on electrics. I've found them indispensable.
