The ABS lite and the brake lite on the dash on my 92 1 ton are always on. The brakes work fine and I've bled them and checked pads and shoes, and they're fine. Someone mentioned opening the back bleeders and stepping on the pedal to equalize the proportioning valve, but I haven't done that yet. Has anyone out there had any experience with this prob. ??The truck stops fine and all, but it is very worrisome having those two lites staring at you. Thanx for any ideas.

Brake lights

Hemiville, I have a 91 1/2 D350 and have been driving around for the last two years with those two lights coming on for a while and going off for a while. I have been to Canada, Colorado and numerous side trips towing a 30ft Fift wheel trailer and have never expierenced any sort of braking difficulty.

My brake pedal still slowly descends toward the floor if held on for any length of time, but even that can be managed.

I truly feel that the braking system on this vehicle is poorly engineered.

Things that I have tried:

1. Three (new) master cylinders

2. New Vacuum booster

3. Vacuum tested my pump. Right on according to the Shop Manual.

4. Drained and replaced all fluid in system.

5. Bled and rebled all of the systems componenets.

6. Replaced vacuum hoses.

7. New front rotors and pads.

8. Adjusted rear brakes. Like new because I think the ABS system on this truck SUCKS and is the cause of all of the problems. My 2 cents. Walt.

I have noticed that sometimes the connectors for the Anti-Lok system become crappy. I would suggest checking them out and cleaning if need be. It is located above your rear axle on the drivers side.

Brake Lights

Nutty Mopar, I forgot to mention that I have pulled apart every plug under the truck that I could find, sprayed them with brake cleaner and air dried them immediately. Then coated them with dialetric grease and reconnected them without any resulting change.

I know that the brakes will work well because this summer while transversing Seattle in heavey traffic on one of their very busy freeways I had to panic stop to avoid a rear ending a guy that jumped in the gap that I was attempting to maintain and then he stopped. My 30 ft. 5th wheel trailer was not much help but the brakes came through and I was fortunate that he did not have an extra coat of paint on his vehicle or we would have made contact.

I had the same problem with the brake and anti-lock lights staying on. Check your fuses(with a tester). On my 92 W250 there is a fuse labeled T/S-RWAL, (space #9). If this fuse is bad, it will keep both lights on until it is replaced.

In 97, I had the same problem and Dodge replaced the Rwal sensor, according to the envoice and it solved the problem. Every once in a while it still happens, but it is my ignition switch, not returning to the on position, after starting the truck. It hasn't been enough of a problem, to spend the money for a new switch.

trouble lights

consider replacing the RWAL connector. i had one bad on another truck. even after drying out and sealing, it still set the light off. replacing the component solved the problem... .....

For what its worth, my ABS is in the trash can. I went back to the old fashion brake system. I also spent a ton of money tracking down the "fantom" brake light. I had 2 alxe sensors get damaged by snow/ice and other road trash. I pulled the ABS computer from the dash and removed the ABS valve body from the frame rail. The brakes work better than ever and no darn light !
