Happy (belated) Birthday, RustyJC!

Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humor

Came out of the bank in Pecos TX to see a local man in blue staring at the truck. Oh Oh!

He asked me if it was mine. Well, no it is my son's (MMclain).

He said the plates belong to a Honda Station Wagon! I couldn't help but bust out laughing! Then he was really serious and I started thinking I was going to jail! He did not like my fictitious plate as he called them. Took a while, but he finally let me drive it off.

YIKES!

Honda Station Wagon! WHAT?

I've never had anything like that happen before. I wonder if he mis-typed or mis-read your plate?

I have had a problem getting my truck inspected...

Took it into the local Shell station that does inspections, and indeed, had inspected this particular truck twice before. This time, after the guy looks the truck over and does the safety inspection thing, he tells me my truck is a 2000 model because of the build date (July 2000) and because in 2001 "They put the quiet Cummins in 'em. "

Me: "Really? All this time I thought that wasn't until the 2003 model when they changed the body style as well. "

Him: "Nope, you don't know your Dodges. "

Me: "Uhhh, does my truck pass inspection?"

Him: "I'll let the model year 'thing' slide since your insurance card says it's a 2001, and the VIN agrees with the one on your insurance card. But, off the record, did you change the VIN?"

Me: "Nope. I have all the documentation in the glove box on the truck. "

Him: "Well, enjoy your '2000 model' truck. "

I could not leave there fast enough!

Sometimes there is just no use in even discussing things with those who obviously know-it-all! And I really hate it when they get me confused along with them!

Mr. Cop ran the plates again while I was standing there and got the same result. So I pulled out the new plates that Marshall had sent me and he ran them only to discover that they are also fictitiuos in the fact that they don't even exist! Put those back!

Then he ran the VIn and I started wondering what that would yield since according to Geico that VIN returns a commercial vehicle and they won't insure it and when Allstate runs it, it comes back as a 1500 instead of 3500! Thankfully it came back as a 1997 Dodge pickup White in color with a clear record.

When I asked him why he ran the plates, seeing how it was sitting in a privately owned parking lot, his excuse was "Im looking for a truck like that". Yeah, whatever.
