Archived 1992 not charging/no overdrive, no A/C

One of my company 1992 trucks is not charging, the a/c quit working and the overdrive stopped working, all at once. We tried swapping the PCM with another of our trucks and that made no differences on either truck. Checked continuity of wires from the alternator to the PCM and they were fine.

Any suggestions? Maybe the key switch?

ESS (engine speed sensor), located at the front of engine. Failure of the ESS will cause the symptoms you list.

Removed the sensor and ordered one today. Hope this fixes it. Thanks for the help!

I would assume you have a tach on the 92 if it working your ESS is working. If you dion't have a tach then no ground to the ESS could cause your symptoms, solution run a remote ground to the connector.



I will have to think what would cause all threes symptoms at once if you have tach and it is working.

No tach on any of these three trucks (my company first gens). The crank sensor fixed it. Thanks for the help yall!

Now, if my dumb mass mechanic would have just come to me first instead of fooling around for a day and a half, I could have come to the great folks at tdr and had it going in a couple hours!
