Thoughts on 16 CM2 turbo housing

My friend has a 94 5 speed a shop in denver had the pump calibraded and they installed 350 horse injectors, thats what they told him. I put a tst 270 cam plate in his new pump and the egts are real bad. I had to slide the cam plate all the way back and that helped some, are the injectors causing the problem.
It has a gov. spring kit,afc spring kit, ported air box with k&n air filter, tst 270 cam plate i think #5,no cat. 4" cat back exh. Need help please thanks brian.

Minimally i would put a 16cm housing on there, but a HX40 with the necessitated complete 4" exhaust would work even better. I think you've got plenty of power to drive the HX40 it just depends on the useage of the truck and the money you want to spend.

For his 94 a HX40 or HX55 would do great! still with a 40 sometimes you still have to run a stock plate or a custom plate moved all the way back or the 40 will be gone!! It seems that combo will still take the 40 up to it's blow point, 49psi and up. The HX35 and a 16 would be fine but it's not going to cool him down much on accleration or pulling up the rpm range, where you are gonna see a strong point in the 16 housing is when you get to the cruising speed you like. Once you get to your cruising speed you will see the 16 work but not until then!

I was reading that that HX40 is too much turbo for a 94 or 95. The pumps are not really that strong. 400hp+ would be the range where the HX40 would really benefit.

I just saw that Ski2`s friend has had pump work done. Maybe the HX40 is a good canditate for his truck.

I`m am going to try the 16CM2 exhaust housing. I thought about the HX40, but figured it overkill without mega fueling.

The 16 is a real dog at low end if you do try it try a set of 370 injectors because I think even with your 215's and the propane it will still fall on it's face at low end. Your propane goes off of boost doesn't it? From what I'm told you need to get that low end fuel to get that 1000-1500 lag out of the 16.
The 94-95 are very very capable of running the HX40 and very capable of blowing one too. With 370's a gov. spring kit some pump work done... . WOW... You might need to slide your plate back or stick the stock one in we've seen many blow the HX40's if you cannot keep a 40 on it go to a HX55 it's off of a M11 Cummins and it will bolt on, you might have to move or bend a a/c line to get it on but once you've gone this far it really doesnt' matter.

Brian:

Sorry to hear about the EGT problems
you and your friend are having. As you
know I am similarily equipped to your
friend with the exception of him having
a 5-speed and me an automatic.

I don't understand why his EGT'S are
that high. Mine have actually gone
DOWN when I am running WITHOUT my
trailers. With the trailers hooked
up it is about the same, however,
I can get it hot faster on hills,
grades etc. I would try the 370
inj's. We have all had good luck
with them.

"Koa Man" did alot of "experiment-
ing" with the positioning of the
cam plate on his truck and had good
success. Look back in the "12 Valve
Archives" to my post "370inj's,gov.
sprg. kit,AFC sprg. kit,WOW" to get
"Koa Man's" e-mail address. I really
think he can help you Brian!

Good Luck!

Smokin,

I`d love to give the HX40 16CM2 a try. With the group purchase you can get into one with a down pipe for about $850. Not too bad. I guarentee they are not 'clocked' for the Dodge Ram (PITA to do without BIG snap ring pliers)& probably will have to fabricate the wastegate
linkage. BD`s come clocked and ready to bolt-on & w/ a down pipe. Cost is considerly more.

I`m going to try the 16CM2 on the OE HX35 for now.

Would the HX40 16CM2 spool up quicker and have less low end smoke than a HX35/16CM2?

drawson`s Truck would be a good candidate for the HX40 #ad
Oh wait a minute, he`s got the "slippin Centerforce" #ad
