I filled up my "new" 1995 3500 3. 54 2wd today and came up with a very good 20. 33 mpg. All city driving with some short runs at 70 mph on the highway. Lots of stop and go and I was not driving for mileage. I think thats very good for my first tank. It has a big high rise camper shell too.

Oo.

I compare that to the 14 mpg or less the 2003 gets around town. On the highway, the 03 is up to 17 mpg, but it is a 4x4 4. 10 dually.

which injectors are MPG safe?

I have gotten 23 MPG several times on long trips just cruising at 60-65. After I bumped my timing to 15:75555 :) I got 24. 2 on a 900 mile trip but I was light-footing it all the way at 60 MPH and no air for most of the trip. It is amazing how much more scenery you enjoy on such a trip. I have a topper that is the height of the cab. My stock tires were 245/16's but now are 265/16 michlins and the odometer with that combo is just about dead on. On one stretch of I65 south of nashville it registers about . 5 % under (goes 100 miles but registers 99. 5). My daily driving hangs around 18 with an occasional 17 when the stop and go is a little more downtownish where you accelerate hard only to brake for the traffic.

My worry now is that now at 240K I am tempted to replace the stock original injectors with some new (bigger) injectors but at todays fuel prices I don't want to mess up my good milage. BTW, I occasionally take advantage of the #10 plate and the GSK in my stop and go driving and have not checked my milage under those conditions. I don't want to know ;) Just don't want to ruin the fun. Actually it would not ruin the fun because when I am having that much fun I don't care. (Yes I know I am not in the same league with you tire squeeling - 4wd launchers) The point is I still have good milage when I want it. The GSK and plate have not changed what goes on at cruising speeds. I think the tighter transmission may have helped a little in city driving. Boost is the same at 60 MPH.

But I believe injectors will or can affect the milage. From what I have read I can't expect any better but definitely could do worse. I would appreciate knowing any buzz words that would help narrow the search. I am looking at the DD Stage 2's at PDR. The only clue that they may be OK milage wise is that the description says that they are a little cleaner burning than the Bosh 215's.

Ah yes... fishermen :-laf

I've been getting only 17. 5 with my 97 with the 4. 10s. And this is turning 2K at 57mph. If anyone else is getting a solid 20 with 4. 10s in a 4x4 12v 3500... ante up.

Got 19 with the 04 (3. 73), and 20 with the 02 and 98 (3. 55s). (2K nd 65mph)

So... I'm picking up a set of 3. 55s to swap out the 4. 10s in the 97.

A 160hp 2wd regular cab automatic is easy on fuel. MikeR's wife Emily has one which turned like 27. 8 driving from south Seattle round trip to Bellingham once, running 70 much of the way. Makes ya sick :)

on my 2000 with 4. 10's i have achieved 620miles from a 34 gallon tank with a mpg of 18. 23 per mile, not bad and that was on a trip to PA. at 65-70 mph. .

Now on the 12V im not sure as of yet but after doing some checking on the dodgeram.org page and some tsb surfing, as i noticed today the fuel guage seems to be irratic going up and down so im not exaclty sure where my fuel guage stands as far as fuel left, other than i know i filled it up all the way and yep i found out about the fuel coming out of the top vent LOL, scared the jeepers out of me at first but i think there is a quick fix for that, im used to filling up all the way to the neck on my '00. It seems the fuel guage on the 92 model has a tsb which indicates some not so true readings on where the fuel guage needles stands.

What can i expect out of the 12V with 3. 54's and 4x4 as far as fuel mileage??
