I have a 1995 with auto trans 130000 miles and tow a 31 ft airstream. I would like to change the trans and torque converter before this one leaves me stranded. What do you experts recommend I do.

Marston:

Welcome to the TDR Website!

To answer your question I would reco-
mmend staying with the "major brands"
of torque converter/valve bodies.

Joe G. has given you a good brand
and some of the others are as follows:
TC: Dunrite, Suncoast, Pro-Torque,DTT
Valve Bodies: DTT, BD

When you decide on a torque converter
brand beware of the "stall speed. "
The "real tight" converters with
stall speeds between 1400-1600 seem
too low for the stock engine. My
TC had a stall speed of "1600" and
I had a "flat spot" or "lag" UNTIL
I increased my fueling and added
370 injectors.

Members have reported good results
with the following shops:

Dave Goerend Transmissions
St. Lucas, Iowa

Scheid Diesel
Terre Haute, Indiana

Suncoast Transmissions
Fort Walton Beach, Florida
