I've started bombing the 95, being my first 12 valve I have no clue which plate I should go with. Everyone I've talked to has the #6. Is the Piers #10/3K GSK a better combo for the auto? I have the guages installed and I'm looking at the regular AFE proguard 7 or the BHAF and exhaust upgrades, the transmission upgrades will soon follow. I do tow a 33' travel trailer when I need to, I live in the RV while I work out of state. Will cutting off the muffler be enough or do I need a 4" system right away?

The truck is too slow for my taste, I'm looking for passing power while empty. Its a dog compared to the stock 2003.

I had both of those combo's. I liked the #6 a lot. It worked well with the stock transmission. I thought the #10 defueled too much on top even w/the 3k springs.

i have the #6 tst in mine with stock trans it works good as long as you dont stomp it all the way to the floor but beware this is only the start you will end up like me looking at every trans link on this site. :D

With the #6 you will have to keep a wary eye on the egts and your transmission will absolutely hate the added ponies. The 3000 rpm springs are a great addition.

Might want to think about a 4" exhaust with the plate ;)

I think the #6 is better also, more top end and good bottom. BHAF is cheaper solution, but get an Outerwears waterproof cover for it if you can.

Since you have a 95 you have the smaller pump. If you can find a 215 pump and can afford it do so. A 160 or 180 pump can't match a 215s cam. I havent had any problems with EGTs on a #6 even with the 370s/191dvs. Your p7100 and mechanical lift pump are probably more reliable than the new pumps and you can get a lot out of it. Beware of the transmission though. More power will eat up the stock transmission. The #6 is about the limit for a stock auto transmission on a 95 with no more bombs... The #10 would be easier on it but less top end. Since you are living in your tow from time to time, an aftermarket transmission should be something to consider soon. Specially if you use the #6. Unless you are perhaps comfortable with long hikes...

I orderd the #6 plate and the big FleetGuard air filter. Will cutting off the muffler help much with egt's?

These exhaust kits from rip (rook?), do they bolt up or is it a one size fits all that you have to cut? I do have the long wheel base though. How does the tail pipe exit? My factory exhaust is in good shape, is it to restrictive without the muffler still? I do like things loud, but I dislike droan at freeway speeds.

My brother is running a straight dual exhaust on his '96. It sounds awesome, but it does drone a little at 2100 RPM. Its ok unloaded, I haven't heard it pulling a trailer so not sure how that would be. At lower rpms it can actually be quieter than with the muffler. Strange, but true... I had the exhaust cut off under the cab for a few weeks on mine and my brothers, both are loud but bearable. A pipe run out the back makes it quieter. I'm just guessing but I'll bet a 4" straight pipe is quieter than the 3".

Have you considered going by Jeff Garmons down in McDonough? I hear he can fix you up on the power... ;)

#6 plate is sweet in mine, torque converter doesnt like it much, but no egt trouble, cant get over 1100, i got a 4 inch (no muffler), this weekend im gonna put some 3000 rpm governor springs and advance the timing and then hopefully the old girl stays happy. do any of you guys have problems with cold weather starting with around 15 degrees of timing? cant decide where to set mine??? wow ihavent posted in like 2 years my old truck is still in my sig boy do i miss her but i gotta love my new 12 valve purchase :)

Sorry DualEE, didn't mean to sound condescending, just a statement. I too have the small pump with the "crappy" helix type cam in my personal truck. However..... its been heavily redone. I believe I can keep up with the big guys.

Took quite a bit of tunning and mods and bumped up to 16*, but It might just be more reliable. I can blow off the rice rockets without much trouble once they come out of the cloud of smoke and realize I'm in front of them. That alone is sweeeet... I have another one at work we put a 215 in and it was just easier to beef up. Its just hard to find an affordable 2nd hand 215 and if you can you should snatch it up. Its an easier, and cheaper starting point to go from in the long run. I've got both sides of the story. Both are 95, 3500s and we've sort of compared the two. The only difference is the pump. The 215 is quicker. :-laf
