I have a truck with the "factory" tow package, but there is no plug. I found one blue wire. This truck had a controller in it at one time, I can't tell where it hooked up to. Shouldn't there be 4 wires under the dash near that blue one with the trailer brake tag?

I read my 95 truck's manual, no mention of brake controller wiring. What does the tow package give me? I'm tired of looking under that dash, what do you hook up to? Should I install a complete kit with relays and leave the hiding factory wires alone?

I don't see anything for the brake light hook up, the first owner installed a power wire from the dash fuse box and had a ground wire also on the dash. The blue wire looks untouched, I can't tell where the first owner hooked the other wires?

Look up under that dash one more time.

I hooked up my brake controller on the 96 last weekend. Took some searching around to find this plug, it was on the left hand side of the fuse box. I moved it over to the right side to allow me to put the controller in the ashtray slot (pigtail on the Prodegy was just a couple inches short).

Plug with nothing plugged to it.

Like you I searched and searched, finally went back to the dealer. It took him awhile to find it. It was against the firewall and way above the wiring harness coming through the firewall. Good luck.

The 95 year trucks must be different. All I found is a single blue wire marked 15 amp max trailer brake. I've looked it over very well with a flash light three times. A guy at work has a 95 3500, I'm going to look at it tomorrow and I hope it had the facory 7 pin set up.

I wire these all the time at our trailer sales business, the easiest way and the most reliable way is to run the wires yourself if it doesnt have the 4 pin connector under the dash. And to my recollection I dont think the 95 does but I could be wrong. That blue wire you found is more than likely a wire that the factory ran and just left it taped up in the frame by the hitch bolts, but the down fall is the damn things usually to short and you have to add another wire on the end of it leaving another spot down the road for it to short out. Run the wires on your own and use shrink wrap and split loom on everything you run and you wont have any problems.
