Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 1996 Auto Trans. shifting problems

This proble I've had for years, starts in 3rd when I turn it off then back on it is OK many techs have replaced what computor has said, they say it has different temp sending unit than what book says, has anybody had this problem.

3rd gear starts can be caused by a bunch of things. If there are any transmission codes stored in it, the PCM can shut off transmission power relay. Have someone check for trouble codes, and start there.

Don't start tossing parts at it. When mine did that I found a broken wire between the trans relay and the transmission. It was intermittent before it failed completely.
