1996 dodge ram 2500 diesel heater/ac switch control assembly

i have a 1996 dodge ram 2500 4x4 that needs to have a new heater/ac control assembly that needs to be replaced because of oil contamination in the vacuum system from the factory defect/recall from dodge for the vacuum pump that needed to be rebuilt and a kit that includes a check valve to prevent any future oil from getting into the system .it when oil gets into the vacuum system it makes all system components stop working including the heater/ac control assembly .i have looked at auto parts local a any options on the web for this replacement but no options exist even a rebuild kit for the vacuum part of the switch. someone has to have found a way to correct this problem even if i had to possibly use one from a 1998 model that might be available aftermarket

I think I may have the same problem. Replacement switches seem to be nonexistent. Any thoughts? I don't think the1998 and newer versions will fit.

the one that is available nearest to my year is a 1997 and get this after all this time this OEM part is still made by Mopar that is why there is no aftermarket availability but what i am trying to find out is where i can find the vacuum harness .i think that it is available aftermarket not sure yet on who has it .that is the problem with this truck is that the first thing that i did was have the vacuum pump rebuilt then install the kit that Mopar sells if you have the oil contamination .the way i found to see if this has happened is the hose that comes from the vacuum pump will have a spot that is spongy and weak if the oil has gotten by and settles in the vacuum hose .if this happens then the whole system could be affected. i have changed power brake booster also. i didn't realize how in-depth this has become and still trying to check out the system in the cab including the vacuum valves that open and close .that is why anyone who encounters this problem needs to take it seriously because the vacuum controls the steering, braking and 4 wheel drive .i did find information about this problem 15 years ago there were not a lot of information on how to fix it thats why the manufacturer refused to even to talk to me about it because my vin didn't fall into the time frame of the recall.i do have more information on the kit for the pump and the recall paperwork

As it turns out, the problem I am having --right now-- is a stripped knob. The dumbest, simplest thing that could go wrong. But more serious things are brewing.
