Ok I have this '96 and have decided that I want Keyless entry and an alarm system.

I don't like setups that cut up all the wires in the process.

Are there any options for me that are mostly plug in options?

The chrysler keyless entry module will plug right in, once the drivers door panel is removed. You must have factory power locks. Have your mopar man look in his accessory book.

Less than a 100.

Good luck

Andy

I wonder will the keyless plug in on an 02 also. That doesnt seem like a bad deal. Especially during the summer when I leave my truck running to keep it kool inside. I could then at least lock it without having to carry an extra key.

Harbor freight sells cheapey trim tools,is it a bear to get the panel off?

Yes on the 02, but you will likely have to pay the dealer to reflash the pcm to get certain functions to work or for t to even recognize the remote. . see you owners manual for programming.

The door panels come off, they use a yellow "christmas tree" type plastic fastener. You will need new ones from the dealer. They are expensive about 1. 50 ea. You will need 14-16 if memory serves.

I use this Mopar number. . 6503709, they are a bit cheaper.

Start at the bottom and work you way up, don't get western, time and finese will save you from breaking a clip on the door panel.

If your not mechanically inclined the dealer or independant would likely on charge an hour to install this. .

Good luck,

Andy

Just called the dealer, they quoted me a price of $175 just for the keyless entry, no alarm or any other options.

I guess I will be looking aftermarket.
