We're looking for a 1996 stock cd/stereo at a reasonable price. If you're looking to get rid of yours, let us know. We have a 1996 radio/tape player now but it is not working well. We would rather find a Dodge replacement before we start looking at other sources. Diana

Good luck finding an original replacement... I liked the stock radio/cd player that came with the truck. It was an "Infinity" and I was very familiar with the controls. Everything I looked at that was new was also different. I didn't want different so I tried to find an original replacement. I guess though, that I finally came to the realization that any originals still available will have a bunch of time on them and are probably not a good bet so I looked more seriously at a new replacement. I settled on a Pioneer am/fm/cd and have been happy with it. If you end up looking for a new unit, you can check out the Pioneer at Pioneer USA - CD Receivers

I put a sony CD/Mp3/Bluetooth in our 1996 for $139 including the wiring harness and install kit from Crutchfield. Much better than the factory unit. And with the Bluetooth, I can talk through the stereo hands free and play songs off of my phone.

with a little playing with adapters i managed to plug a cd player from a 02 durango into my 96 without cutting any wires, it took a little dremmel work for the fit but not much and the newer radio sounds great, plus being a factory looking part it is less likely to get my window smashed out

at this point i think i could plug in a rb1 nav unit in and be good ta go if i really wanted to get fancy but this unit will also control a cd changer and i think it'll do sat radio

my factory radio/cd/cassette was acting up < would play cd sometimes. took it to radio shop and they said they don't fix them any more. went to Johannes Auto Salvage in Jackson, Mo and got one out of a wrecked car for $125. 00 that works great. the one out of the car has a different mount on the front so I popped the front off each one and switched them. The new one had an extra metal tab on the volume knob I had to break off to make my truck mount snap on, but that was the only difference. Did the same thing for my wifes car years ago. bought one that came out of a truck , swapped fronts and put it in her chrysler. Johannes phone # is 573-243=3506. They had several with the car mounts but the only one they had that the "booK" showed to fit the truck was one with a cd changer. Your mount I guess doesn't have a slot for cd's so I guess you would have to find a junk radio for a mount donor if you want to use the 2 factory mounting bolt holes.

:)Thanks for all the suggestions. I printed them out for Dutch [my non computer guy] to read. Will let you know which way we go. Diana

Thanks again for all the suggestions. We went to Best Buy over the weekend and found a great stereo/cd player. We had them install it [a rarity for us do it yourselfer's] and it sounds and look great. Now to figure out how to work all the buttons!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-laf Diana
