Hello folks, I tried to post on an older thread I searched, but the thread was closed.

I'm trying to determine if my '96 12v Cummins is supposed to have two throttle return springs.
On the Cummins QuickServe site, it only shows the lower spring on the rear linkage area.
My Dodge Service manual shows a spring up front at the throttle assembly with the Throttle Position sensor.

Should it have both, or just the rear, lower spring?

Also, does anyone know if there is a recall or TSB on the throttle?
I never heard from Dodge of a recall.
Is there a website with TSB or recall info where I can look this up?
Thanks

My '95 had the double spring listed on QuickServe as the 3923058 Tension Spring. I would imagine your '96 is the same.

The '98 lists (2) 3931510 Tension Springs.

There was a Safety Recall for a frayed throttle cable and to replace the plastic heim joints with metal ones. I'd suggest you call your dealer with your VIN and let them check if the recall has been performed on your truck. Just ask them if it has an open recall for the throttle cable.

No separate spring near the tps other than the torsion spring. The throttle recall is different depending on the year

Thanks Bob4x4,
I asked to clarify because my service manual shows one at the TPS, but the truck does not have it. The lower rear spring is shown on the Cummins website and I did order that spring inside a spring. Thanks again to all for your help.

It’s not really a “spring in a spring”. It’s more like they wound two wires together at the same time. You’ll see when you get it.
