Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 1997 auto truck HP rating/ changes over 1996?

I have a 1996 1 ton with auto trans. There is a 1997 for sale a few hrs away. My question before I make the drive is... . Is the engine HP and trans. the same on a 1996 with an auto trans?
