I have a problem with the cruise control on my '97 Dodge 5 spd manual. When the cruise control is initially set after the engine has been shut off, it will set and then very gradually start increasing vehicle speed.
I don't know when, if ever, the increase in speed will stop, but I have seen as much as 10-15 MPH before turning it off. After setting the cruise control and switching it off between 5 and 10 times it will set and work perfectly for the duration of the trip or until the engine is shut off again. I have done a vacuum test and the system will hold a constant 27 inches. The servo, hoses, etc. under the driver side battery box show no obvious problems. I am aware of the undershoot / overshoot problem and have performed the "relearning" exercise several times but it has not helped. Any ideas? Anyone had a similar problem?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
