2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 1998.5 2500 dodge ram extra cab starter tick

I own a 1998. 5 dodge ram 2500 extra cab p/u with 150,000 miles, recently when starting it takes me several attempts until motor turns over to crank. While turning key all I hear is a metallic click until I turn key from on to start enough to engauge starter. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Starter solnoid contacts are bad. Order new ones from larry B someone will come on with the web site .

Sounds like you need Larry B's starter contacts. The contacts on the starter solenoid are worn out and all you have to do is remove the stater and install these contacts. About 40 dollars and an hour's labor. Do a search here on Larry B's starter contacts and it will tell you everything.

replacing the contacts is pretty simple, Larry B's kit comes with some instructions. I would go with Larry B's all the way, save yourself some $$. The starter really isnt too bad to get R&Red if you have a few socket extension, a set of 12pt sockets and a wobble extension. honestly I would say in the 4 or 5 that I have pulled it has taken me more time to get the rubber protector for the batt + terminal out of the way than to remove the starter.

Don't wait too long. These starters can stick on when the contacts are bad and then you really have fun...

indeed it can be fun, had the start stick on in one of my dodge gassers... some quick wrench work.
on our '00 the contacts gave up all together, would only work if it was stone cold. they were pretty fried when I replaced them.
