For sale is my 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 DRW truck.

Features are:

4X4
3. 55 gears, Dana 60 in the front, Dana 80 in the back with a limited slip differential
12 Valve diesel, not the 24 valve
Not the 53 block. If you don't know what this is, it is a good thing not to have.
AC is cold
Don Thruen Track Bar
7 pin harness in bed and bumper
pintle hitch pin is included for bed. This is what was included when i bought the truck 6 years ago, I never towed that style.
Power windows/locks/driver seat/mirrors
Heated Mirrors
Ranch hand bumper on back. Has a few rust spots, could be cleaned up and made new.
Auto Trans.
Headlight relay harness
Trailer brake controller

I recently (about 2000 miles ago) put a ATS Diesel Stage 3 transmission with the torque converter controller and the 5 star torque converter in it. It works well.

Wiring is prewired for an exhaust brake from the transmission torque converter. If you intend on adding one, you are halfway there.

I know I cannot recoup all my money in this trans (6K), but will ask for some.

Engine is stock except:

Fuel plate moved forward with transmission install.
KDP installed
Vacuum pump seals replaced, engine leaks no oil
New fuel shutoff solenoid about a year ago
New sears diehard gold batteries about 2 months ago

You will need new rear tires sometime soon.

Amsoil in everything.

212,779 miles.

Located near Charleston, SC

Will include a factory service manual and some small extras, a fuel filter, cold and warm weather grill covers, a quart of paint and primer & clear coat, etc.

If you are looking to take a truck and make big power, this is the truck for you. You have the transmission to back it up, and the motor has seen no power mods (except for the fuel plate), which is the best way to buy a truck to mod, yourself. The trans is a 6K option, but you can never recoup everything you put in them.

Asking $10K.

I have a clear title.

We have been RV'ers since 2004, when we bought a RV in Washington State. Since then, every military move we have used it to move from duty station to duty station. in 2011, We decided that we wanted to go simpler. So, the wife always wanted a Jeep, and so, we bought a new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with most of the bells and whistles. I installed a brake controller and have a utility trailer with many upgrades ordered. This is how we will tent camp.

I have 2 years left until military retirement, and after that, another career. The military has paid well, but the second career will be very lucrative with my Nuclear Power experience and a Masters Degree. At least one kid will be out of the house, and as such, we will get the new Dodge Ram and a 5th wheel just for me and the wife.

Since the RV is going (not sold, on RVtrader.com if anyone is interested (2005 keystone Cougar 301bhs in Moncks Corner, SC)). we no longer need the truck. We decided that when we tow an RV again, we want a newer truck. So, no need for the truck, and therefore it needs to go.

It hurts me to let it go. The trans was an expensive buy and I will not get all the money back. I hate to loose the 12 valve, I know the value of one. In some ways, I would love to keep the engine for a stationary generator for my new house.

I ask myself why I want it. I love the 12 valve for its ultimate in reliability. I would rather have larger back seats and more "niceties" that the 2012 Ram's have (I looked at one). I like the new styling of the new trucks. The way I figure it, let Dodge work out some of the issues with the new trucks, then get one and remove the EGR and PDF after the warranty is up, and that will make it much more reliable than it is now.

Uderstood. Last question i have read all ur post and have all fixes been made? Or do things still need to be done? I have had 7 of these trucks so i like to know what i have to do to it to get it to my standards and dont mind doing some work just like to get everything figured up.

Thanks

The KDP has been done.
I replaced the vac pump seal.
There is a new shutoff solenoid.
I replaced the shutoff solenoid relay years ago
The Don Thruen track bar is installed.
The dash is cracked, of course.
This truck is very stock except for what is noted.
I put the headlight relay harness on this thing.

What other questions do you have?

Oh nice. Not in the service although most of my buddies are. One of which has 2 12 valves and after driving them i do like them. We are in the rental business mostly but do a few other things most requiring a heavy duty. I went to look at a 12 valve and i opend the oil filler cap and could hear that the dowel pin had fallen out. Terrible and the shady guys (small dealer) wouldnt do anything about it! Think id rather not buy from a dealer anyway. Where is your house here?

Boone Ave by Cracker Barrel.

Star wheel full forward..... whats that?

AFC Star wheel. Controls how fast the fuel comes in as the boost pressure builds up. You turn it with a screwdriver. More forward means you get fuel sooner when the pedal is pressed. Further back means you wait for boost pressure to build up, and the truck will then allow more fuel into the engine.

Do you guys just rent it out? I like the idea of that nice mod. Well Guess i need to talk to the bank and see what they will do.

I have for several years. I wanted to sell it last year, but no dice. I rent the house of the people that rent my house.

You need to know, I have a potential buyer, a guy coming back from Iraq. I am supposed to meet with him on the 1st of Feb. I told him I would not sell it without talking to him first. I also said I would not sell it except if offered more money. you can email me privately at rteak at me dot com.
