Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 1998 in tank fuel filter.....source?

The dealer wants over $400 for the complete in tank assy, but I just want to replace the in tank filter.

Anyone out there have a source and or part number fir the in tank fuel filter?

I've not heard of it being sold separately. They call it "non serviceable".

I would probably be tempted to eliminate the tank filter and use an inline strainer such as Fleetguard FF5079 (Wix equivalent is 33270).

Not exactly what you were looking for, but Rockauto has the entire assembly for $305. That's a little cheaper?

Maybe I should just scrap it. I have a fleetguard 1000 as a pre filter.

It's a BIG sucker.

You might also try Vulcan Performance they have the jeep liberty module for 100ish (they also have the modded one with a drawstraw installed). Replaces the entire unit including float and sending unit. I put iin my truck and darned if I can remember if there was a screen type filter or not but a calll to them would answer that.
