2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 1998 steering damper

I need a new steering damper for the truck. I hit a rock with this one and bent it. Anyway I was searching through posts to find a good one but got really confused. Does Bilstein make one for a 98? I know this subject has been beat to death but it gets really tough finding the correct parts because everybody does a conversion to this or an upgrade to that. I'd appreciate it if somebody could help me out.

When I replaced my original steering damper -- I thought it was worn out but actually a bent rod -- with another OEM one there was no real difference. I don't think it's a critical component.

On a 4wd its a very critical component, the stock replacments or Bilstiens work great, Whatever you do dont buy a cheap rancho or similar shock, you will most likely get Death Wobble. I would look on Genos website

Geno's lists a bilstein, but not one for a 98.

I just bought a cheap Gabriel(?) from Autozone. I'll let you know how it holds up.
