Well to give you guys a little history of the truck its a 1999 2500 4x4 Quad cab with Edge e-z, Banks brake, 4" Turbo to tail magnaflow exhaust and a AFE Stage 1 with the PG7 filter. As far as the transmission goes it would shudder very badly going into overdrive so we took it to a very reputable aftermarket diesel performance transmission builder here in Denver and its been back twice for a few issues, i. e. exhaust brake and 4 wheel drive were inoperable. The second time we took it in was for excessive smoke at start up. They replaced the torque converter as they said it was too tight. Well a few weeks have passed and the truck has gotten to the point were even if plugged in over night or during the day for that matter that it wants to stall as soon as you drop it into drive. Even if you let the truck warm up in park it doesn't seem to be any better. The truck never did this with the factory transmission and has only done it since having the new transmission put in. So I'm hoping that all you guys and your wisdom can help me diagnose this issue.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

silveram hope this might be of some help, i have 99/350 duly. doing the same thing when putting in gear. tech. said it was doing this because of trans was trying to start off in high gear. at times with a load behind it it would just move. he said the torque was locked up in high . prob. due to abad solinoid valve. just found this out today. . in drive trans. temp & exhaust temp. would go up with brake on at idle. good luck. hey guys don,t post on here much . but i have been a in the transmission business all 48 yrs of my life you need to look at cooler flow . that would explain trans temp increase also there is a check ball and spring in the cooler line you should be able too take cooler lines off at trans . blow threw the front line with a jug on rear line see if you have flow lots of air presure there is a lot of fliud in lines . the rear line is return it has the check ball in it up by radiator. see this a lot at my shop.
