Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 1999 cummins question am new to this site

I currently have a 1999 cummins truck with a 53 block that is cracked also have a 2001 cummins truck been told 2001 does not have a tone ring on the crank like my 99 does is this true if so what can i do swap these motors to make it work properly or can it even be done

Some of the 01s had the ckp look behind the starter to see if this one has one. If it does not have one just get the ECM from the one that did not have the CKP and swap
