Cat C7 issues

What a day!

I posted my Toyota on Craigslist this morning, removed the classified a mere 7 hours later, although it sold in the first hour. My wife manages a vehicle licensing agency for the state of Washington, and ran the fair market value ($8200.), I asked $8000 firm. I had close to a dozen (9) inquiries, I held and sold it to the first buyer for $8k cash.

I also sold my beloved 03 for $30k this AM...Now my other half gets her new Titan, guess things will be happy in the Page household for a few days...

The Tacoma's hold their value every bit as well as the Ram CTD in my opinion. Anyone who knows and understands Toyotas has no problem paying top dollar for a high mileage truck, much like the CTD. I can tell by the few pictures I've seen of your Ram you take exceptional care of your vehicles and I'm sure the new owner got a heck of a deal.

So Mr Page, will the New Titan have a 5.0 Cummins under the hood? ;)

Thanks Guys!

Yes, It was difficult to sell both, just a decision that had to be made. Cummins would be nice in the Titan, but it's going to be the wife's truck...she doesn't like her hair smelling like Diesel fuel  , IDK...

The Titan drives so great (sports car feel), it surely reminds me of my daughter's Altima coupe. IMO it handles better than both the new chevy's and dodges, haven't driven a new ford, but cannot forget the past fords I've owned and their front tire "rubber robbing" behavior.

Once my wife and I decided we liked the Titan over the other 4, price became a huge issue. The Titan out the door through Puyallup Nissan was $35k even, This is a King cab SV, that is loaded up with some very nice features. The only items a PRO 4X has over this SV is the extra airbags, skid plates, leather heated seats, power rear slider and locking differential, besides that, I did not like the decals, fender flares, driver's side bed box compartment, under bumper step and color matching bumpers of the PRO 4X.

Dodge came in second price wise @ $38k comparably loaded, chevy, ford and Toyota were all at/over $40k. They are all nice vehicles, Ford actually felt the most "plush" to me, but felt too "boxy/square". It came down to Toyota and the Titan, just couldn't purchase less than the nicest Tundra...and the $ spoke volumes...Titan it was!

That was our thought process rs, right or wrong, we are on our way to Puyallup to pick it up and drive it back to Spokane today.

Here's the new Titan, it has a finned rear diff cover...:) Jess

Good looking truck. Is this the same body that they will be putting the Cummins in?

I can't remember if it was Nissan or Toyota that will be introducing the Cummins in their next generation pick up.

Looks like the same body as the prototype I saw in the announcement. I believe that both Nissan and Toyota have plans for some type of Cummins power plant in all 4 vehicles, Tundra, Tacoma, Titan and Frontier. That was another reason I accepted the $30k price on my 03, I figured as soon as these other 4 hit the market my 03 would certainly lose value...

Don't bet on it. None of them will be true HD pickups. Also, AFAIK, the Titan has the finned cover to keep that tiny Dana 44 axle from going into meltdown behind the large V8 engine.

I think diesel prices are going to effect sales of diesel powered vehicles in the US. I could be wrong.

Lots of local valley farmers have switched back to gas vehicles and many acquaintances of mine who jumped on the 3/4 diesel bandwagon have gone back to gas also; especially those who who literally have no use for a towing rig or like to buy new cars every few years.

Time will tell.

I'm not sure what prices are on your end of the country but fuel prices here are within a few cents of regular unleaded. During the winter there is a substantial gap due to heating oil usage and such but it has always been that way at least as long as I can remember. My friend has a 12 Chevy 2500 With the 6.0 And gets poor mileage empty and HORRIBLE mileage with even a moderate load hooked to it. Last year when we went to W Virginia 4wheeling we were within a gallon to gallon and a half of each other every time we filled up. This with me pulling a 7k lb trailer and him running empty With tool boxes and a set of tires and wheels in the bed.

The emissions requirements could be a completely different story though if the epa don't quit screwing with them

Technically speaking the Ram isn't an HD truck either. I believe anything that is used for towing/hauling could benefit from a finned diff cover.

IDK, I just figured the new diesel trucks on the market would surely thin out the pack looking for used diesel trucks, so with everything on my plate and timetable , I believed the offer on my 03 was one I could not hardly turn down.

As far as the finned cover on the Titan, that's just good preventive engineering...:-laf, If Dodge would have thought of that, Mag-Hytec would not be such a successful company.
