Old Quadzilla Question

Newbs 1st post, lift pump?

Howdy,

Just wanted to post up and introduce myself here.

I'm not a stranger to Mopars by any stretch, but this is my first Diesel pickup, so it's all sort'a new to me in that respect.... so without further ado, lets just get to it eh.

My trucks name is Montana, and he's a 1990 W250 with just over 129K on the Odometer. 100% Rust Free original with (1) previous owner.

Stock 3.07 Gears (open Diff), 727 and a Gear Vendors Overdrive.

Exhaust system recently replaced with a 4" straight pipe (4" Muffler still sitting New in the box, I may install it later).

Near as I can tell, the power plant has not been tampered with in any fashion... it looks to be bone stock (no updates or upgrades of any kind), but I haven't dug into it to deeply just yet.
I ordered a set of AUX gages for it... the usual EGT, Trans Temp, Boost, not installed yet.

I also picked up a BD 16mm Non-Wastegated Turbine Housing for it, since everyone seems to be in agreement that this is a good piece to swap out. That should be delivered here in a few days.

All Fluids and Filters are here ready to change out just as soon as I find the time.

I also want to check the Valve Lash since I have no idea if it has ever been done. Then there is the KDP issue... again, I have no idea what the previous owner may or may not have done, so that's right at the top of my list of things to check.
Near as I can tell, the previous owner took a good deal of pride in his truck and took very good care of it, so I'm hoping for the best.

Well, I guess thats enough for now.

Good to be here!
Really looking forward to talking with folks here, getting advice, and maybe picking up a few pointers.

Mike

Welcome. Nothing personal but for your neck of the woods I would heavily think about undercoating that rig with something especially during the winter months to keep any future rust at bay. There are a lot of members here that use various products that you can get some recommendations.

I got out of the Marines (Active duty) in 1989. Your truck model was all the talk and the thing to have. Nice find!

I know, trust me... Those pics were taken just after I finished power washing the nasty New England road salt off the body and undercarriage. The salt was on there when I got the truck (transport road rash), but it won't hit a wet salt brine road again until something has been done to protect it. I may just use Fluid Film or NH Oil Protectant this year, but I'll be looking at something a little more permanent for next season. The truck is a rust free creampuff right now, and I intend to keep it that way.

Great find. I love those square bodies. The ones with the sweet hood ornament are pretty rare nowadays. You're right about the previous owner. A truck that old that spent its life in New England usually has at least some rust. That truck was loved.

The ones with the sweet hood ornament are pretty rare nowadays.

I know... the original hood ornament on my 85 D100 was stolen less than 2 weeks after I bought the truck. I had to replace it with one of those bolt down JC Whitney jobs that were available back then. The 85 lives on my daughters farm in NH these days.

I picked this one up out west. It's originally from MT. Judging from all of the rubber plugs underneath, including the bottom of the tail gate, I have to assume that the original owner did a little rust proofing to protect it. Most likely garaged as well.
