If any of you are around western Colorado, specifically Montrose, and want to get a 4" exhaust system I just had one installed by a good friend of mine. He is the reason I returned the Banks Stingerkit and started that whole mess. He told me he had done one before and he could fit a full 4" system on my 1993 club cab. He used 3" from the turbo down for about 18 inches, then a short section of 3 1/2" to neck up to the 4" at just about the bottom of the firewall. From there back the entire system is 4". I used an Allied Q series straight through muffler(about 9" case), I know someone said they hate the way Allieds sound but I loved it on my 440 truck and I like this one too. He does immaculate work and is not expensive. He even made sure that I could get my trans and transfer out without having to move the exhaust. The 4" is EXTREMELY tight around the transfer case, that is why they don't make a mass produced system. If anyone would like to see about a system they can e-mail me or call direct to Chancey Merwin and Chancey's Repair and Exhaust in Montrose, (970)240-9000.

This sounds great but I wonder if there is any concern of too much heat around the transfer case??? Have you noticed significant cooling of EGT? Many guys including HVAC and Joe Donnelly have said there is no real performance gain in the larger exhaust on 1st gens but I would do it for EGT cooling. I really want to deal with improving air flow both ways before I change injectors and turbo.

I installed the pyro at the same time as the exhaust so I couldn't tell you whether the egt is cooler than stock or not. I will say this it sounds great and I had a chance to pull a trailer with it the other day. Trailer weight 3500, car weight 4000, plus the truck and going up an approx. 8-9% grade I accelerated from 45 to 55 in about 2/10ths of a mile in 4th gear and the egt never got above 1100 degrees, I figure that is pretty good considering the amount I have the pump turned up and the 14 cm turbo housing. The 4" really stands out when you look at it too.

I just saw your other post about the exhaust, I wish I could post some pics of mine, it is really a work of art. BTW I don't see how the transfer case is going to get any hotter than with the stock pipe. The entire exhaust and muffler is tucked up higher than the bottom of the frame and has to go up very little to get over the axle. Basically a 45 out of the muffler, up a couple of inches, another 45 then back about a foot, the down in a 45 and out in a 45. It sounds complicated and the routing is a little unusual but I couldn't be happier. If I can take some pics I will post them, may be a couple of weeks, I leave on vacation in 3 days.
