I've got a 91. 5 std cab 4x4..... I want to convert it to a dually. Is it possable to just get a set of factory dually wheels and put a pair of 2" spacers on the rear axle? I have hubs for the front left over from other project truck. Thanks.

Contact your insurance company and ask them what they think of wheel adapters.

If you have ever seen a truck spit a set of dualls off you wouldn't even think of adapters. I have seen 2 sets of adapters fail.

One of our members had a set that all most failed if he hadn't of found it in time on a new truck he purchased.

very true. I have a chevy crew-cab dually that has Q78-16 swampers, is has steel 2" spacers between the rears. I was thinking about using the same ones They seem pretty solid to me, at least stonger then the cast factory dually spacers on the front on the chevy. Any info is helpfull, thanks

A local guy removed his duallie parts including box, offered them to me pretty cheap. He wanted single wheels. Didn't know it was possible ? Forget if it was 1st or 2nd gen ? will

Keep in mind the difference in axle widths. I'd personally look for a D70 dually pickup axle (I got one) with duals to swap in. That way, you'd have th right width to match your dually bed.

Would the adaptors/ spacers for the front swap over without hub changes? I had considered swapping my 91 D350 to a W350, but that is some work, too.

Just finished my 93 250 dually conversion. First i tried the longer stud route, tunrned out to be a nightmare especially with the local dealer, and parts depots had 2. 25 inch studs, not near long enough. I found a dana 60 dually rearend with 410 gears for 200. 00 bucks. (good deal so i thought) I took some quick measurements of the spring perches and guess i was lucky that day because they were identical. ( one less thing to mess with ) distance from backing plate to spring perch is 6 inches, 3 inches wider then stock. Now the fun begins! The carrier was uninstalled and missing bearings and races and the rearend housing had zero id tags and #'s that werent any help to the parts guy and i. Anyhow we trucked on and ordered and sent parts back till finally we had everything to do the job properly the first time! (bearings, races, seals, shims,u name it i got it) I picked up a new set of u bolts and nuts and switched the yoke with my old one and it bolted right up! I used early 90's Ford dually steel wheels with 9 sixteenths stud holes and Ford flat type nuts. Keeping my eyes open for a limited slip that will slide right in and a set of stainless wheel simulators. Hope this helps you out

Daniel is correct. Never put spacers on the rear of a dualy !!

There is also not much point of having the dual wheels when the axle bearings, hubs and studs on a single will not take the load that the dual wheels are supposed to hold... .

Dual wheel conversion

I have done a conversion with a complete kit from www.arrowcraft.com. This included 4 steel adaptors w/ lugnuts, , 2 fiberglass rear fenders with mounting hardware, 4 Alcoa Classic 8 rims and 2 stock steel inner rear rims. Everything came to me on a pallet and it was heavy. Those steel adaptors are heavy duty and I wouldn't use anything else. You can purchase parts separately to your liking. The fenders fit real nicely, however, they do not have the mounting for the factory marker lights. My truck looks factory except for when you get close up and notice the RAM 250 emblem on the front fenders.

14 hrs to auction end, Ebay Item number: 8038815732. Dana 70 HD. Brand new (NOS) Dana 70HD dually rearend, 35 spline dual rear wheel rear axle with a detroit locker and 4. 88 gears. It also has the 4. 25" axle tubes. Play it safe and go with an axle that was purpose built and engineered. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be...

Do the dually fenders look like the originals? Do they look good? What about pricing?

Doc, those arrowcraft fenders are for a SINGLE wheel truck that is converted into a dually. Not a 350 dually replacement. They don't fit nor look like oem. Save your money if you are looking for replacement. BTW Dodge has new fenders available, they did a new run, for ~$220 each list.
