Anyone know which color fusible links go to what on the drivers side inner fender by three relays( i think which go to grid heater???) I'm frustrated with a fue

l gauge that works intermittently mostly not. Windshield wipers quit. ABS n brake light on. Dash lights quit. Frustrating

I checked all the grounds i could find. Thought it was the headlight switch but i replaced it and nothing ... so i checked power on the dash lights wire and no powered in or out. With all the other crap not working i looked at the fusible links n some look bad. Real flimsy n some like wire feels fried.

I believe that you can get the fuse link's from like napa try replaceing the one's that feel bad and go from there also double check the ground from core support to battery maybe ?

Pull on the ends of the fusible links, if they stretch they are fried. Usually the insulation is discolored & funny looking.

In 98 I my 89 failed to start when I checked the batt and other things I found the engine /front end harness had failed at the crimps for the Fuseable links. salt had worked its way into the harness under the tape that dodge had used to cover the connections. My only choice was to replace the harness, wich dodge had already discontinued... ... . I think that Painless has replacement harness or can make one for your truck. It's not that a bad job as it sounds to replace everything from the fire wall plug forward.

Ok so i dunno whether to feel stupid or not. I replaced a fusible link that felt spungy a white one 22 GA. As soon as i replaced it i tried the wipers motor was whirring wipers not moving. The plastic piece holding the wiper linkage together to the motor snapped off. But before i heard nothing when i turned on the wipers. Anyways 7 dollars from Dodge for a dime size piece f plastic and i have my wipers back.

K as soon as it stops raining I'm going to change another fusible link n see if something else miraculous happens. The one day i wanna work on my my truck it rains. It only rains 5 days a year in AZ but its raining today. Lol

K so all the fusible links are good. At least there's voltage on both sides. So anybody what to look for next in a fuel gauge that works sometimes and sometimes doesn't? Also i can't fill fill my tank more than half full lately it bubbles out. I've heard of a clogged vent? Fuel gauge is a real puzzler though. Can a sending unit work intermittent if its going out?

Classic signs of a clogged vent.
