Just finished fixing the odometer in my 92. The speedo worked but not the odometer, it stopped working at 192,000.
I purchased the new 15 tooth gear from Southern Electronics in Virginia for $32. 00, no shipping charge. I called them at 804-423-1100 and ordered the gear and it arrived in two days... pretty sweet.
I had never torn into my dash before, but it only took me about 2 hours to R&R the gear. The only obstacles were that you need to lower the steering column about a (1) inch to get the dash bezel out. Once gauge cluster is out just remove every screw you see until you get to the small... very small gear located in the guts of the speedo head.
It looked intimidating at first, but it wasn't that difficult. No need to pry, press or fixture anything. It all comes apart pretty easy.
Did I mention how small this gear is?
