Competition At what HP should you girdle or get your block balanced

Hello,

First time writer to this forum, but I had a couple of questions. Two buddies and I are thinking of building a pull truck/some daily driving (minimal). We are wanting to definately have a P-Pump so my main question is... Do we go with a 1st gen or a 2nd gen. If you could say advantages to both that would be great. We are thinking a 1st gen due to the NP205, styling, and room under the hood (removing a head, twins :) ... ). If we get a 1st gen we are thinking of dropping in a p-pumped motor and NV4500 from a roll over truck anyway (unless others think this would be a bad idea) so mostly we are looking at suspension and axle answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Jamie

The coil front end is a huge advantage on the 2nd Gen.

The local 600CI gasser boys are giving up on 205s and are going to try the 241 HDs because we have had such good luck with them.

Also, lock out hubs are weaker.

I can't think of a single advantage on a 1st Gen, maybe more room under the hood?

First gens are a real pain to build. Yes, there is more room under the hood which makes it easier to work on but you will end up turning it into a 2nd gen by time you are done. Just my . 02.
