I've got a positraction unit out of my Dana 60 race car rear end that I broke one of the spider gears in a couple of weeks ago. I called Standard and they say that I'll have to go to Mopar for a new one? Anyone know of another shop that may carry these? I'm going to put a spool in the racer and fix that posi unit and put it in my Dodge #ad
but I need that one spider gear before I can do that. That'll make it better! W350 with a posi in the rear, yeah, that'll work!... #ad

I hate to rain on your parade but, The rear end in your truck is a Dana 70 and the sure grip from your 60 will not work. The ring gear is bigger.

Well since racer brown did not say, I will assume that he is racing a late 60's dana 60. It has a power-lock sure grip. Calling it a p-trac or other GM term will get you blasted on some of the Mopar sites. Anyway, it does have side gears with a rebuildable clutch pack. In 71 they introduced a track-lock suregrip. It is a little diff but still has side gears.

Oh well, it was a nice thought anyway. I was sure that thing had a 60 in it. This carrier has 35 spline axle gears in it cause my race car axles are 35 spline. I was told it was out of a 1 ton when I bought it (already setup to race) from Herb McCandless. Back to the drawing board I guess. I'll just apply that money toward that turbo housing.

Thanks, Racer

If it was in a single wheel one ton, then it was a dana 60. Look on your rear end of your race car and you should see a 60 cast in it on the center section. All of the CTD used 70's. Even the 3/4 ton. Don't throw it away. You should be able to find a side gear.

I Thought that "posi-traction" had no spider gears, only limited-slip and standard rear ends use spider gears.
