I am about get out of the Hotshot bus. as I took a "regular" job. So I plan to sell my 97' 1 ton soon. I am going to look for a 1st gen. 3/4 ton supercab with auto. Any tips on particular year models known problems to be aware of?

------------------
97 Dodge cab/chassis 1 ton,Allison at 545 4spd auto, Brown-Lipe 3spd auxillary, 4. 10's,11'flatbed w/ monorail, bd injectors, K&N filter,Cobra 29 CB, Wilson 2000, electcric & V/H brakes, 50 gal. aux tank, pulling 20' 12 k cap tag-along flatbed trailer,
225,000 miles and counting

LARGE CAR, If I were you I would try to find a '93, which is what I have. The reason I say to find one is because the '93's are obviously the most advanced of the 1st gens because they are the newest. There is not a darn thing wrong with any of the other year models (any Dodge/Cummins is worth its wieght in gold!) but you can usually will find the '93s for about the same price as the older models (I've seen '90s being sold for more than I paid for mine!) I do not know of any model-specific problems to watch for but I'dsay any '93 you find and seems solid when you test drive it should be a great truck for you. Just my 2c on bying a first generation. (by the way, get ready for one heck of a rough ride!)

Large Car, hate to hear that you're getting rid of the 97. I'd love to have it in my front yard. On the 1st Gen's, the 91 1/2 is the first with the intercooler. I'd diffenently shop for a intercooled model.
Good luck, Ronnie.

I hate to get rid of it too, Moparguy . Going to wait a couple month's or so to make sure the new job is going to be what I want. If so then I really don't need this big ole truck. I'm kickin the idea around of putting a sleeper with seats on it and putting a western hauler type bed on it. I gain room for the wife and kids and get to keep it. I also like the 1st gen. extra cab trucks too, guess I'm still in the tire kickin stage right now.
