Hello All,

I'm a first time CTB owner, so don't bash me to hard. I work in the construction management field, and leave my truck running at all times for heat and A/C of course. Should I get the high idle switch, and if so, where do I find that type of accessory and a ballpark figure on the cost.

Thanks in advance,

LK

high idle

e-mail mr Bowers @ -- email address removed --. he makes a kit quite nicely priced, using a solenoid to kick the idle up. it's on my list of things to do.

High idle controler

First of all..... Welcome to the TDR,

My solution is low-tech, and cheap... .

I took a wooden dowel rod (from an old clothes pole), cut to the proper length to fit between the go pedal, and the seat brace. Idle is set at about 1400rpm. ;)

i received my high idle kit from mr bowers last week. it is easy to install and works perfect. he has them for 2nd gen 12v and 24 v rigs and will make some first gen kits in the future.

this kit is a bargain for only 35 dollars.

Welcome aboard... I'm not sure if anyone has actually answered your question...

YES... . If your going to let your truck idle for long periods, especially in cold weather, you need to modify your idle speed. If you don't, you can damage your engine. You can either use the low tech method (ie, dowel) or buy a more expensive solution. Dodge is aware of this problem and they are supposed to be offering an ECM flash to help take care of this problem, although not all dealers are up to speed on this yet.

Take a look at this thread for more info...
