Are all Diesel engines DI?

First post here and hopefully will have a Cummins powered truck by the end of summer...
I've been reading some of the back posts and there is TONS of great info here

The plan is to install a 5. 9L 12v cummins into a 1968 M715 millitary Jeep truck, one of the fights will be the 5. 87 gears, I'll probably go to 4. 56 w/35" tires, or if I win the lotto; 2. 5 ton rockwell axles w/6. 72 gears, 44" Michelins, & dual over drives #ad

I've got lots of questions, but will ask a couple until I search some more of the messages...

How much should one expect to pay for a used 12v cummins engine?
I found one yard has 4 engines, just finding an engine is hard... they just keep running #ad

- 1990 engine, harness, most of the accessorices $2. 4k unknow milage
- 1991 engine, harness, most of the accessorices $2. 4k unknow milage
- 1998? 24v hard front hit on the truck, cracked the front cover, 66k miles,
needs harness, accessories, $1. 7k
- 1995 12v 76k miles, complete harness, accessories, nv4500, no tcase $5. 2k

What is the "best" rpm range for highway travel?
- From the little I've read it seems maybe 1600-1800rpm...
- With changes basicly changing everything I'm trying to get the best range...

Thanks!

We ran some of those "ton and a quarter" trucks in SE Asia. The weak link in those beasts seemed to be the transfer case- we were deadlining them faster than the Motor Pool could spit them back out.

Those Dodge powered M-35's couldn't be killed, though. Be nice to see a 4 cyl B engine in one of those...
