2-3 shift

i have an 89 with some mods and a dtt89 converter and b and m shift kit. when the truck goes for 3rd it hits a neutral like feeling for a second then shifts and locks up. something is def not right. the truck did it before but now with the converter its really bad. anyone got any ideas what the problem might be??? and it shifts a little to quick into 3rd. so how do you adjust that?

This is the 2-3 shift timing that has been talked about .

Instead of overlap you have the opposite- a flair.

Did you install the B+ M kit? Was a reducer installed in the case? If so it is the culprit, remove it.

Other than that tighten the front band a little to see if it helps.

The front band is only used for 2 nd gear and is released for 3 rd. It is releasing before the front clutch is applied.

If the clutch applied to soon you will have overlap.

The line pressure also is a player. Do you know where it is set?
