Who's got the Diesel Pick-up Market share??

We all know of the 5. 9L and 3. 9L B series Cummins. Been around for years. I just found out there is a 4. 5L 4BT used in farm tractors and the 6 cyl version is 6. 7L, another set of "B" series engines?

Agco doesn't call the 6. 7L a B series but 2/3's of that is 4. 5L, they do call that one a Cummins 4BT.

Are we missing out or what? Searched the Cummins site and found no mention of either engine. Who woulda thunk.

Cummins South had those engines on display last year at the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition. They are SWEET! I got a good look at the 4. 5liter (4-cyl) and it looks just like the 3. 9. From what I could tell, the 6. 7 looked like the 5. 9. The guy I spoke with from Cummins South said Cummins was working on EPA approval for on-road use of these engines. The ones thay had on display were mechanical-injected, but met tier II emission standards for non-road engines. By what I could tell, I see no reason why a 6. 7 would not go in place of a 5. 9. The dimensions appeared to be the same or very close... Who knows... maybe we'll have an option soon!
 
We have those engines in the Case heavy equipment where I work. The 6. 7's have the 24 valve common rail fuel like the '03 and up trucks. Smaller machines have the 4. 5's. The timing gears are on the back of the block. :cool:
