Since the February 20th, 2014 purchase of my signature truck, I just recently decided in joining Fuelly.com . I was easily able to re-construct all of my fuel purchases and enter them into my Fuelly profile. A few days ago, I decided I'd get the log that I record DEF purchases in and compare against #2 fuel purchases for like periods.
This period is for miles from May 30th, 2014 (16564 miles on odometer) to June 30th, 2014 (21732 miles on odometer) 5168 total miles.
For this period....I purchased 338 gallons of #2 fuel.
For this period....I purchased 5.713 gallons of DEF.
My #2 average MPG this interval was 15.289 MPG.
My DEF MPG this period is 904.6 MPG.
At Cummins' published consumption rate of 50:1....I should have used about 6.76 gallons of DEF.
My actual ratio this interval is 59.1:1 .
Since my hauling changes constantly, this is the best tank of DEF mileage range I've received so far (5168 miles). Other intervals have been 3977 miles, 3835 miles, 4102 miles, and 3547 miles. I did not include the first interval (1103 miles) as I know it left the dealer not 100% full of DEF.
As time allows, I'll try to analyze the other 4 intervals.
