I want to upgrade my truck for 2wd low range operation. I've considered three options:

1. 4x4 Posi-Lock. Cost is about $250. Advantage is 2wd low range operation and replacement of the somewhat troublesome vacuum actuator. Disadvantage is initial purchase price and having to install knob below dash.

2. BD 2-Low kit. Cost is about $120. Advantage is relatively automatic operation and ease of installation. Disadvantage is retention of factory CAD actuator and it really seems like a lot of $$$ for some wires and a solenoid valve.

3. Build-it-yourself 2-Low kit. Cost is unknown. Should be cheapest option if you don't count my labor. Would functionally be the simplest setup, but would take the most time to install due to tracking down needed parts.

I'm running a 2" leveling kit with 35" Procomp Extreme A/T's, rebuilt rear limited slip with restacked clutches, 4. 10 gears, and a 6spd. I use the 4wd for mild work and utility. I don't do any extreme trail riding or deep mud. The Dynatrac style front hub kit is not an option mainly due to cost. Also, for my application, I like not having to get out to lock the hubs.

I'm looking for input from anyone running any of the kits mentioned above, anyone running another option that I may have missed, or anyone with an opinion based on experience or actual facts.
