I'm thinking of running a 2 micron filter between the existing filter housing and the injection pump on my '06. Is the finer filter going to give me lift pump problems? Has anybody experienced driveability problems after installing a 2 micron filter? TIA
I have a GDP lift pump kit sitting in the garage, It's going into my Overvalved 2nd Gen Friday night at Coffee night Oo. Signal73, Sorry about breaking the No 3rd Gen Rule , not!!! :-laf Moose00
You should plan on a better fuel pump and a gauge. If the stock pump can maintain pressure, it probably won't do it for long. Glacier Diesel has nice complete kit. I bought a Stanadyne FM1000 before the Glacier system came out and I am still figuring out on the mounting and I'm having a hard time finding 2 micron filters. I going to use Glacier's fuel pump and lines.
I HAVE BEEN RUNNING THE GLACIER DIESEL 2micron filter kit(between stock filter and cp3 pump) for about 1000 miles now. No problems so far and thats with b-99 biodiesel which seems to have a little thicker viscosity than #2 diesel.
How does the Glacier Diesel kit mount? I looked at the kit on their website and, between looking at the bracket pictured and at the area that the installation is shown under my hood, I can't figure out exactly how they are mounting the thing?
The Fleetguard FF5320 used in the MK-2 will support any level of performance modifications. Flowing close to 100 GPH at a pressure differential of less than 1 psi
Thats a pretty low differential at that flow, I doubt the OEM lift will even know its there as long as its clean. I have not done this mod but it looks interesting.
I have the Glaciar Diesel Power 2 micron filter kit installed with the stock in tank lift pump. I have a fuel pressure guage that measures fuel pressure at the inlet of the CP3. I was seeing between 6 and 10 psi stock and now see between 5 and 9 psi with the filter installed. 5 psi being under a good load uphill. In my opinion the in tank pump is far better than the one that use to be mounted to the Fleetguard filter housing. My dealer changed it for me after 2 pump failures in 10,000 miles.
I as well have GDP big line kit, pump, and 2 micron filter sittin in the garage. Hopefully it all works out fine. I have not heard anything negative about GDP's products. Rich Brown will be doing the install in a week or so here. A long with some other goodies.
I have run my truck with the 2nd 2 micron filter (GDP setup) for about 1000 miles as well. My LP is on the fule filter housing as the truck is a 2004. I do carry a spare LP, though... I have a fuel pressure gauge at the inlet to the CP3 and have noticed little if any pressure difference, but the location of the sender makes the pressure bounce around some. This includes a 400 mile pull at 16,600 GCVW.
